Valentine Bike Share

As Marketing & Memberships Manager for Heartland Bike Share, I oversaw the branding and launch of the Valentine Bike Share system in Valentine, Nebraska. The one station system is the most rural bike share system in the United States and is located on the Cowboy Trail.

As part of this process, I had to design a system logo, station signage, and a simple website.

Logo Design

Using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, I designed a logo for the Valentine Bike Share System. Below you can see the progress of the design. The earliest logo design started with the basic elements I wanted to include. Each draft added a little more to the design.

From the beginning, I wanted to incorporate a bicycle wheel and the iconic Valentine heart. Throughout the design process, the system name was updated & I added the cowboy hat as a nod to the famous Cowboy Trail the system serves.

Final Logo

This is the final Valentine Bike Share Logo which is now used for all marketing materials for the system.

Bike Share Station Decal

Utilizing Adobe Illustrator, I designed print-ready station decals for the Valentine Bike Share system. The name decal was our standard design, but I had to create a user-friendly kiosk decal.

The kiosk decal had three goals:

  • Explain the pricing structure of the system

  • Teach users how to buy a pass and check out a bike

  • Ensure the costumer service phone number was easily accessible

The first draft of kiosk decal - Valentine was known for hearts so I originally wanted them incorporated. We later decided to add a second pass option (Monthly Pass) which ultimately changed the space utilization on the final design.

Valentine Bike Share only has one station, so I was able to take out unnecessary copy like “Locate Stations”.

This is was the final design of the kiosk decal– clearly showing the pricing, easy to read "how-to" guide with a QR code to push users to the BCycle App, and pointing users who need help to the customer service line.

Valentine Bike Share Website

I created a simple WordPress website for the Valentine Bike Share system, www.valentinebikeshare.org. The goal of the website was to create a simple web presence for the system to support marketing efforts and promote our partners.

I created a landing page featuring a photo I took of a bike share bike on the iconic Cowboy Trail Bridge and a short "About" page that highlighted our community partners.
