MassBike Social Media

As Communications Coordinator at MassBike, I oversee the social media content creation, copywriting, and scheduling. Below, I outlined the different approaches I took for each channel and 2021 growth metrics.

Instagram

The MassBike Instagram page was underutilized when I started and had large growth potential. I implemented consistent posts and utilized LinkTree to make the most of the “Link in Bio”. I made sure to share all posts as Instagram stories to ensure more views and periodically created reels to draw in new followers.

Instagram 2021 Stats: 24% increase in followers (1,716 to 2,139)

Facebook

Facebook was the most heavily utilized platform before I came on as Communications Coordinator. Instead of aiming for follower growth, I started utilizing bit.ly to track my link clicks and revised my posts to optimize link clicks & engagement.

Facebook 2021 Stats: 2% increase in followers (6,664 to 6,783)

Twitter

The MassBike Twitter has the largest following, I targeted strategic re-tweets of coalition partners and utilized the thread feature. I found Twitter to be the best at amplifying the work of our partners and for sending time-sensitive Action Alerts.

Twitter 2021 Stats: 5% increase in followers (7,981 to 8,292)

This Twitter thread was part of our end-of-year fundraising appeal.

Strava Club

I used the MassBike Strava Club to send messages about our Bay State Bike Month ride challenges. I started including a link to the Strava Club in our newsletters and encouraged riders to join the club in the ride challenge promos, with resulted in exponential growth.

Strava Club 2021 Stats: 660% increase in members (41 to 312)
